Periodic Inspection & Testing

To ensure your electrical equipment is functioning properly.

What is Periodic Inspection & Testing? Throughout the life of an installation, electrical wiring and components will deteriorate. For this reason, it is imperative that you perform periodic inspections and testing at the workplace to ensure that all electrical equipment is safe for your employees to use and to ensure it is always in good working condition. Safety checks such as these are often referred to as 'periodic inspections and testing'. A Electrical Condition Report (EICR) will be issued every time your business undergoes periodic inspections and testing.

By implementing periodic inspections and testing by MEI Systems Ltd, we will:

  • Check that all electrical devices and circuits are not overloaded.

  • Verify there are no electrical shock hazards or fire hazards.

  • Electrical work will be checked for defects

  • The earthing of all electrical equipment will be checked.

How often should the checks be done?

  • Commercial property: Recommended every year (the maximum period is 5 years).

  • Rental property: 5 years

  • Occupied Premises: 10 Years

  • Buildings with Swimming Pools or similar facilities: 1 year
